FS legal represented Halsall in its court battle against Champion Consulting in a £6m tax avoidance claim last year. The case was widely reported and believed to be one of the first claims of this type to reach the courts. The claim related to various tax schemes entered into by the claimants on the advice and recommendation of their tax advisers that were determined to be negligent advice.
