The feat of taking something that was the aspiration of a wealthy elite and democratising it over time is why car pioneer Henry Ford is iShares' Joe Parkin's adviser champion from fiction or history.

The ETF provider's head of UK retail and wealth goes on to point out that Ford also innovated in a "massive way".  Parkin adds: "He always said that if he had asked customers what they wanted they would've said ‘faster horses', but what did he give them? A car. "So Henry Ford to me, over the course of time, although he didn't come up with the car, he certainly brought it to the masses."
