Many generations of people have worked hard throughout their whole lives in the hope of a comfortable and stress-free retirement. Their goals are often relatively simple: to pay off a mortgage, give up work at a reasonable age, enjoy the occasional holiday and buy a new car every once in a while. On top of this, many people will have the aspiration to pass on some of the wealth they have created throughout their lifetime to their family.
