The Institute of Financial Planning (IFP) has put together a list of ten questions it recommends all consumers ask a financial planner before they agree to do business with them...

Is there anything you would add? 1) What experience do you have? The IFP said it is helpful for clients to find out how long the planner has been in practice and the number and types of company with which they have been associated. 2). What are your qualifications? Many financial planning practitioners describe themselves as 'financial planners', the IFP said.
