The leading law firms are developing advanced extranets, giving clients the ability to watch everything they do. Charles Ansdell , corporate relations manager at Inter-Alliance Group, argues in an industry plagued by low transparency and consumer confidence, extranets could be just what financial services needs.

The Financial Services industry has a tarnished image. Successive attempts to banish "foot-in-the-door" notions have been met with tight lipped cynicism, and the industry has yet to muster the squeaky clean image of professions such as accountancy. Consumer confidence will not have been helped by Equitable's latest revelations, especially while the bitter taste of previous mis-selling still lingers.
