The Tokyo market has not fared well recently, says Ed Merner, fund manager for the Atlantis Japan Growth fund. Merner says this is caused by Prime Minister Abe's resignation, shaky overseas markets, weak quarterly GDP figures, concerns over a slowing US economy and selling by both domestic and overseas investors. However, Merner remains optimistic on the prospects for Japan. He says: "Major stock markets are cyclical and you can make a lot of money when they are very depressed.
