Discrimination - raising the age old question

As a regular lecturer on employment law, it still surprises me when I meet people who are not aware of the proposed age discrimination legislation. It honestly seems to have passed a lot of people by but, by 1 October 2006, any person of any age will be able to sue if they have been unlawfully discriminated against because of their age. So, will we see budding Victor Meldrews lodging proceedings alongside disgruntled teenagers or will this legislation be a damp squib?
