Despite the changes that will be wrought by the Retail Distribution Review, Defaqto's latest report into offshore bonds has found that most advisers think it's business as usual. David Abbis explains

Defaqto has published its third report on offshore bonds - Offshore Bonds 2008 - Calmer Waters. The report looks at the current landscape and how that may be changed by the Retail Distribution Review, what providers must do to promote the product and also at the attitude of UK-based advisers to offshore bonds. A survey of advisers by Defaqto in June 2008 indicated that sentiment towards offshore bonds had not changed in 12 months, despite the changes to the CGT regime, which arguably benefit alternative product types.
