The surge in popularity of offshore products can in part be attributed to the UK's ageing population. With the limitations on onshore pension funds, offshore investing is increasingly being used for retirement planning. Brendan Harper, technical manager at Friends Provident International, advocates offshore bonds as a great alternative, and says the key benefits revolve around tax planning.
