UK investors are showing faith in Japan's politicians and their appetite for continuing reform. The re-election of prime minister Koizumi is seen by F&C as a big positive, not only for his reform programme, but for the stability and certainty his victory brings. Koizumi's Liberal Democratic Party (LDP) and its coalition partner New Kemeito won 327 seats, of the 480 on offer.
