Artemis European Growth run by Philip Wolstencroft and Peter Saacke emerged as the runaway winner in this sector after achieving five out of six possible nominations. The pair have built up a strong following among investors, not least for the development of their quantitative investment process, known as SmartGarp, which throws up potential investments for the fund. Wolstencroft and Saacke are running around 80% large-cap exposure at present and are largely avoiding the utility, food and telecom sectors.
