Claim declinature rates have become an increasingly topical issue in the UK life market. The publication of declined claims has improved transparency, but has also highlighted an increasing trend in the percentage of early duration claims declined for non-disclosure across all product lines. Definition failure often contributes to an overall rejection rate approaching one in four claims for critical illness.
