The FTSE 100 has ended the day up 13.2 points, or 0.22%, to 5,890.2 as miners rallied on stabilising gold prices.

The FTSE 100 is up 3.3 points, or 0.06%, to 5,880.3 in early trading, with Partygaming leading the risers.

The FTSE 100 index has ended the day practically unchanged, as only a slight loss of 0.2 points to 5,877 was headed by Partygaming.

The FTSE 100 index is almost unchanged in early trading, with a small rise of just 0.8 points to 5,878, as miners lead the fallers one the back of copper prices dropping.

The FTSE 100 has finished the day down 14.95 points, or 0.2%, to 5,877.2 despite a promising start as retailer Gus dragged stocks lower.

The FTSE 100 is up 50.5 points, or 0.86%, to 5,942.7 in early trading as water stocks rose following takeover speculation.

The FTSE 100 Index slipped 3.30 points, or 0.1%, to 5,892 points today, led by fund managers.

The FTSE 100 has opened slightly stronger this morning up 0.04% to 5898.0 helped by the high street chains following Next's better than expected first half figures.

Despite a poor start earlier in the day, the FTSE 100 index has ended the day up 44.7 points, or 0.76%, to 5,895.5, with insurers among the biggest risers.

The FTSE 100 has fallen 13.2 points, or 0.23%, to 5,837.6 in early trading following a fall in copper prices.
