FTSE down for a second day

The FTSE 100 Index declined for a second day, down 11 points to 4971.50 points paced by high street retail stocks.

Next leads the drop, losing as much as 50p to £14.50, while Argos parent company, Gus has slipped 27.50p to 859p, after it announced its plans to break up the company. Gus will distribute its 66% holding in Burberry to GUS investors. Sainsbury has also shed 9.50p to 283p. Dixons, lost 3p to 147.75p, after reporting it expects a slowdown in UK consumer spending to curb its sales. Daily Mail and General Trust meanwhile leads gains, adding 14.50p to 679.50p. DMG world media, a division of Daily Mail & General Trust, announced it received $17.2m from the sale of the Californian Market Centre...
