As many as two in three manufacturing firms are in favour of some element of employer pensions compulsion, over and above current National Insurance, new research indicates.
The survey commissioned by the Engineering Employers' Federation in conjunction with Aon Consulting, comes in a timely run-up to the findings from a Government-commissioned task force due out today, which will urges pension compulsion in the workforce as a solvent to Britain’s pension crisis. According to the EEF, 68% of firms are in favour of forced pension contributions, as apposed to 56% tallied in 2002 and 50% 1998.
