FTSE ends good week

The FTSE has closed a further 47.80 points higher to 5161, capping off a good week. The benchmark closed at 5079 points last Friday.

Rolls Royce Groups leads advances, up 8.75p to 296p, while oil and gas firm BG Group picked up 13.5p to 472.5p, with BOC group adding 29p to 1033p. Yell Group also picked up 12.5p to 437.75p. At the other end of the board, mobile group O2 has shed 2.25p to 134p, after it denied takeover talks with Deutsche Telekom. Royal & Sun Alliance Insurance declined 0.75p to 83p. In the US, the Dow Jones Industrial Average has started well in its morning session, adding about 36 points to 10310.35 points, after slipping close to 100 points yesterday.
