IFAs should not rush to tear up clients' will trusts despite changes to the transferability of nil rate band (NRB) inheritance tax allowances, according to threesixty.
threesixty says there are still a number of advantages to IHT trusts and has produced a spreadsheet calculator to help advisers demonstrate these to their clients. In the latest pre-budget report, the Chancellor, Alistair Darling, allowed any unused NRB of a deceased person to be passed to their spouse or civil partner to be used at the time of their death, effectively doubling the IHT threshold for couples.
