With over a million workers past the State pension age, pension schemes should be looking at the impact of new age discrimination legislation now rather than later, according to the National Association of Pension Funds (NAPF) and the Third Age Employment Network (TAEN).
In a joint presentation to launch the guide Extending Working Lives – adapting pensions for an older workforce, Joanne Segars, director of policy at NAPF, has said although everyone is “ferociously working towards putting in processes for A-Day,” they ought to be aware that October 2006 would be upon them sooner than they think and should start planning for the situation earlier.
