Cairn Energy is up 35p to 1,077p. ITV is up 2.25p to 105.75p. HBOS is 13p up to 859p, after Halifax reported a surprisingly strong monthly house price index. Betting firm William Hill leads the drop losing 7p to 548.50p. In Tokyo, the Nikkei 225 Stock Average declined 0.4% to 11,442.95, led by TDK after analysts cut its rating on a forecast drop in demand for components. TDK, a manufacturer of magnetic heads for disk drives, shed 2.4% to 7,370 yen.
