FTSE up, now down

In the UK the FTSE sits a point above the 5,000 mark after losing 23.60 points this morning, led by United Utilities.

United Utilities 'A' shares have lost 15.50p to 324.50p, following its confirmation of the 165p price for new shares being issued under its rights issue plan. United Utilities shares are down about 28.50p to 650.50p. Search engine Yell Group meanwhile, continues to do well, adding 5.25p to 440.25p, along with WPP group, up 3p to 586.50p. In Tokyo the Nikkei 225 Stock Average advanced 0.6% to 11,281.03 at its close early this morning, led again by a surge in chip shares.
