FTSE on the move

In the UK, the FTSE 100 Index has climbed about 20 points to 5250.40 this morning, led by Unilever.

The manufacturer of foods, and home and personal care products has advanced 9p to 561p, while Cable & Wireless is up 2p to 146p, after reports its is in negotiation to buy rival firm, Energis in a £700m deal. HSBC Holdings has also lifted 12p to 926.5p, after a newspaper reported it is looking to sell its part-owned German bank, HSBC Trinkaus & Burkhard. On the losing end of the scale broadcasting firm ITV, has lost 2.5p to 123.25p, after the Sunday Express reported it might offer £800m for the content business of Telewest Global. Retail firm, Kingfisher has also dropped 3.75p to 252p...
