FTSE keeps ball rolling

The FTSE 100 Index has added a further 18.70 points to 5109.10 at close of play today, led by ITV.

The broadcasting group has picked up 6.5p or as much as 5.6% to 122.5p, after it had its annual licence fee cut by regulator Ofcom to £80m for 2005, from the £215m it paid last year. BAA, which operates airports including London's Heathrow, advanced 23.5p to 622p, after analysts upgraded its stock to ‘buy’ from ‘neutral.’ Cable and Wireless has also advanced 5.5p to 148.5p. Talk currently circulating the media is that the communications firm is holding talks to purchase Energis, the UK enterprise service provider. Mobile companies, O2 and Vodafone have also advanced 3.25p to 132.25p, ...
