Shroders steadies FTSE

Money management firm Shroders provided the catalysts for a solid showing from the FTSE today.

The UK benchmark closed 14.30 points higher to 4,898.50 points a short while ago, boosted by Schroders, advancing 38.50p or 5.5% to 727p after reporting a pre-tax profit increase to £50.4m. Additionally, search engine Yell picked up 17.25p to 415p. The company has agreed to purchase TransWestern Holdings for $1.58bn, representing its largest US acquisition. British Airways also advanced 7.75p to 268.25p, while William Hill leads the drop, down 19p to 491.50p.
