The FTSE 100 index has ended the week on a high adding, 5.6 points to 4694 points at close but still ending under the 4700 mark, paced by Cairn Energy firm and British Tobacco companies.
Cairn added 44p to 1441p, while British American Tobacco and Imperial Tobacco Group added 21p to 892p and 27p to 1382p respectively. Centrica shed 20.75p or 8% to 229.25p upon concerns of the impact of rising electricity and wholesale gas prices. Centrica has already increased its prices twice this year losing in excess of 600,000 customers. Parent company BG Group as a result also shed 5.5p to 344p.
