In London the FTSE 100 Index remained pretty even today, closing 4.5 points higher to 4,947.40 points, led by Schroders.
The asset management group picked up 20.50p to 681.50p, while Antofagasta added 36p to £12.55, after concern that demand in China for copper might outweigh the growth of supply there. The firm has three copper mines in Chile. British Airways also advanced 5.50p to 267.50p, as oil prices declined for a third straight day. Yell meanwhile, shed 16.50p to 406.25p, after the Office of Fair Trade annoucned it intended to investigate the UK telephone directories market, saying there was insufficient competition.
