FTSE not all sugary sweet

The FTSE 100 Index has slipped 4.30 points in its morning session, paced by Tate & Lyle.

The sugar refiner lost 20.50p or 4% to 464.50p after posting a 9% decline in fiscal full-year profit. Hilton Group and Alliance & Leicester have both shed 4.25p to 286.75p and 11p to 858.50p respectively, following stock downgrades. Johnson Matthey, a chemicals specialist supplier of platinum for catalysers, meanwhile has picked up 44p or 4.5% to £10.28 this morning, after reporting its full-year results met analysts' expectations.
