iShares near doubles AUM in 12 months

The Exchange Traded Fund (ETF) arm of Barclays Global Investors (BGI), iShares, has reported a 45% increase in assets under management between 2006 and 2007.

The firm, which saw assets climb from $285bn by the end of 2006 to $414bn by December last year, says the success was in large part down to impressive net new assets of $69bn worldwide. It adds that, as part of this, Europe has seen strong growth, with iShares AUM increasing from €33.1bn to €39.5bn during 2007. The most popular iShares funds with investors in Europe were the iShares MSCI Emerging Markets, iShares DJ Euro Stoxx Select Dividend and iShares MSCI World.
