The FTSE 100 index continued its upward curve, albeit at a slower pace on Thursday, boosted by shares in the telecom sector.
The UK benchmark index closed the day up 13.3 points to 4,962.7 points, led by BT Group which earned 12.75p or 6.3% to 214p, after it reported fiscal fourth-quarter net income increased 44% to £435m. Shares in O2, a one-time mobile spin-off of BT, also climbed 4.25p higher to 120.75p, after analysts raised its stock rating, citing a positive outlook for earnings. Money management firms Amvescap and Schroders also advanced today, gaining 10.25p to 320.25p and 23.5p to 754p respectively.
