Unum to delete Provident name

UnumProvident has announced it intends to change its name to Unum Group as part of a larger branding initiative being undertaken by the company.

The change will be effective pending necessary approvals in the US, while in the UK it is expected to occur mid- to late-2007. Unum’s three primary business units will be known as Unum US, Unum UK and Colonial. In the UK, the company is constituted as Unum Limited but it uses UnumProvident as its trading name.
