Long-term saving in the UK does not even constitute a period stretching longer than a decade, new research indicates.
A survey conducted by IFA Promotion, questioning 2228 individuals, finds three-quarters of 30-50 year olds and four in ten of over 50s have not saved for anything longer than a decade. Moreover, one in ten respondents say they are yet to save for anything, rising to 17% among those people aged under 30. IFAP also finds only as few as three in ten respondents are saving for their retirement, dropping to 25% among women, while the longest period two in ten people have saved for is merely for a holiday.
