London's FTSE 100 index has clawed its way back above 4,900 points, however the benchmark still shed a couple of points today to close at 4,919 points.
Schroders leads the drop, shedding 16.5p to 660.5p, while Shire Pharmaceutical company has dropped 13.5p to 565p. Clothing retailer, Next also retreated 37p to £15.95. Pest control and cleaning products firm, Rentokil Initial has added 5.25p to 164.25p. A bid from VC firm EQT Partners AB to purchase Danish cleaning company ISS A/S, has raised the stocks of other firms in the sector. HBOS also profited today, advancing 19p to 834.5p. In the US the Dow Jones has added a further 27.12 points to 10512.77 points led by Hewlett-Packard. The computer firm has added $0.42 to $20.21, along...
