Equitable 'evolution' continues with new director
Equitable Life has appointed a new non-executive director to its board with effect from next month.
Ian Reynolds, currently a non executive director of HSBC Life Assurance and of Alternative Assets Opportunities, as well as a member of the council of the Institute of Actuaries, will take up his post from the 1 October.
The company says Reynolds has over 40 years of experience in the insurance industry, previously holding the position of UK divisional manager and general manager of life at Commercial Union between 1988 and 1998.
In addition he has held a variety of posts at Royal Insurance and between 1999 and 2003 worked as a special advisor to the Financial Services Authority (FSA) before becoming a senior consultant at Beachcroft Wansbrough Consulting.
Equitable Life says the appointment is part of the planned evolution of the Society’s Board as announced in its 2005 annual report, which includes the retirement of Ron Bullen and Michael Pickard from the Board at the end of the year.
It adds after "a rigorous selection process, including the use of a search consultancy", the company decided to appoint Reynolds a non-executive director, with the expectation of a further appointment to be announced in the near future.
Vanni Treves, chairman of Equitable Life, says: “I am delighted to welcome Ian to the board of Equitable Life. He has over 40 years of insurance experience and I am sure his knowledge will benefit all our members.”
