Last year saw a number of financial institutions and new issuers make their first foray into the blossoming European ETF market. One of those was HSBC, a group with over $730bn in assets under management (AUM), having unveiled its inaugural ETF on the London Stock Exchange in August 2009. After launching four funds, the bank now plans to establish a core range over the next 18 months and is uniquely placed to tap into the anticipated demand for ETFs in the Far East.
