Remove 'all or nothing' aspect of DB transfer advice - Standard Life

The partial transfer option should be made a mandatory requirement in the Financial Conduct Authority's (FCA) upcoming defined benefit (DB) regulations, according to Standard Life.

The pension provider said making a partial transfer a mandatory requirement would ensure consumers had greater flexibility in what they did with their retirement income and enable advisers to tailor their advice to deliver a better outcome for clients. "Rather than the ‘all or nothing' approach of full transfer or no transfer, a partial transfer could be the best option in many instances," Standard Life argued.
