TELEPHONE and online life broker Click has reported substantial growth in the number of women applying for life cover.
In its own study of 250,000 men and women, the group found that female applications climbed from 9pc in March 2006 to nearly 35pc in March 2007. This contrasted with submissions from men, which plunged from 92pc to account for only 71pc of total applications during the same period. Click said the results were underpinned by Office of National Statistics (ONS) research for socio/economic trends in 2006, which showed an increase in the number of lone parent families with nine out of ten being headed by a woman.
