Thames River 'not retail friendly'

THAMES River Capital's decision to hire Gary Potter and Robert Burdett has been described as an "odd fit", with IFAs questioning the firm's retail credentials.

Burdett and Potter shocked the investment industry last week when they resigned from Credit Suisse Asset Management (CSAM) where they jointly headed up its multi-manager division. However, the re-emergence of the pair at Thames River Capital has surprised IFAs because they broadly perceive the firm as disengaged from the retail market. Thames River now plans to launch a range of long-only multi-manager portfolios for Potter and Burdett when they join this summer.
