JO Hambro's Beagles goes on sabbatical

CLIVE Beagles, senior fund manager of the JO Hambro Capital Management UK Equity Income fund, has gone on sabbatical for up to six-months, leaving the portfolio in the hands of his number two, James Lowen.

Professional Adviser understands that Beagles, who has been at the firm since 2004, will take a break from his job to recover from a recent illness, and will return to JO Hambro within six-months. Beagles, who joined the firm from Newton Investment Management, has recently struggled to deliver returns for clients in his £533m fund, which is languishing at the bottom of the highly competitive IMA UK Equity Income sector. Over the last year, the fund has delivered negative returns, losing investors 0.57pc. It is currently ranked 87th in the sector (bid-to-bid, according to Lipper, 19.09...
