F&C plays down fund manager exits

F&C has lost two of its young up-and-coming fund managers, Luke Newman and Makis Kaketsis, who are to leave to become hedge fund specialists.

The pair have not named their new employer, though it is understood not to be a competitor to F&C. They have been at the group since joining from DWS in late 2005. F&C's £62m Special Situations fund was launched for Newman in December 2005. The fund has been top quartile in the UK All Companies sector over the past year, with growth of 13.06pc (bid-to-bid, according to Lipper, 30.10.07).
