The government has accepted the recommendations set out by economist Kate Barker in her housing report published earlier today.
Delivering his Budget this morning, Chancellor Gordon Brown says the government has accepted Barker's report, which reveals the number of houses built in the UK must rise substantially. He says the deputy prime minister must now consult how we will be able to increase the number of properties in Britain. As this is a long-term issue, striving for an overall consensus is desirable, he adds. IFAonline
