The fund will be run by Chris Palmer and Seok Teoh and has been seeded with capital by Key. The mandate was formerly run by Bennett Capital Management.
David Aird, institutional sales manager at Gartmore, said: "The long-only investment process uses disciplined proprietary research to search for unexpected earnings surprises.
"We are confident we can adapt to hedge fund management in this area as successfully as Roger Guy and Guillaume Rambourg have done on the Europe long/short fund."
