The FTSE opened at 6288.8 this morning after rising 11.5 points, or 0.18%.

British Airways rose 13.25 points, or 3.28%, to 417p. Anglo American rose 82 points, or 2.96%, to 2851p. Royal & Sun Alliance rose 2.2 points, or 1.71%, to 131.2p. Man Group rose 8.5 points, or 1.57%, to 549p. Vedanta Resources rose 25 points, or 1.49%, to 1698p. BG Group fell 12.5 points, or 1.57%, to 781.5p. Vodafone fell 2.1 points, or 1.34%, to 154.5p. Drax fell nine points, or 1.32%, to 671p. Ent. Inns fell 8.5 points, or 1.31%, to 638.5p. Standard Life fell four points, or 1.26%, to 312.25p.
