Henderson Global Investors fund manager Heather Manners has been replaced by co-manager John Crawford while she is on leave due to illness.
Manners, who joined Hendersons in 1986, manages the Standard & Poor's AA-rated £196.2m Henderson Pacific Capital Growth fund, which returned -11% on an offer to bid basis over the 12 months to 12 August, compared to a Far East ex-Japan sector average of -9.3%, to rank 47 in a field of 70.
Concern over the seriousness of the illness has led Edinburgh Portfolio to sell out of the fund, while Hendersons itself said Manners had been on sick leave for some weeks and didn't know when she would be fit to return to the office.
Manners also managed the Horizon Pacific offshore fund and the Asia Pacific Absolute Return hedge fund. Crawford will assume management of all her funds in her absence.
