Investor confidence is at its lowest since 11 September 2001, according to research by JP Morgan Fleming. Of investors surveyed, some 42% expect the stock market to be lower in six months time, with just 22% confident the market will have recovered by then. Some 37% are undecided as to where the index will be in six months time. Peter Brewster, head of market research at JP Morgan Fleming, said stronger signs of economic recovery and an end to the Iraq issue are prerequisites to any sustainable rebound.
