Standard Life today announced the appointments of Norman Blackwell and Gerry Grimstone as non-executive directors to their board.
Blackwell, who is a special advisor to KPMG Corporate Finance and chairman of the Centre for Policy Studies, holds a number of non-executive positions.
He is also an active member of the House of Lords.
Grimstone, previously working for Schroders, also holds a number of non-executive positions including Dairy Crest Group and Candover Investments.
Chairman of Standard Life John Trott says Standard Life is delighted by the appointments.
"Both have a wide array of experience across a number of different sectors, including expertise in the financial services industry. We are sure they will make a significant contribution to Standard Life in the years ahead."
Meanwhile, Standard Life announced that Giles Henderson is stepping down as a non-executive director after joining the board in September 2001.
The aviation sector's constant evaluation of errors in order to improve safety should be applied to defined benefit (DB) schemes, as too many are repeating the same mistakes again and again, research has shown.
