Key role for advisers in claims process

ADVISERS have a crucial role to play in helping clients get the highest amount possible from insurance and critical illness claims, according to support services provider threesixty.

According to research by the group, the higher a life insurance claim, the more chance it has of being rejected by insurers. The research showed the average rejected life claim value in the year to March 31 2007 was £70,121.30, compared with a paid claim average of £60,172.81. A total of 6.65pc of life claims were rejected, with the best and worst rejection rates ranging from 0pc to 25pc for individual insurers. The overwhelming reason for rejections was non-disclosure, with 99.59pc of life claim rejections based on non-disclosure and the balance made up of suicide exclusions. ...
