Should the England manager be a pundit on TV?

I didn't see it myself (you'd know why if you caught my column on Monday) but apparently England manager Steve McLaren was one of the pundits on Sky on Sunday afternoon for the United/Chelsea game.

Is that right? I don’t think so. I say that, not because I don’t like McLaren or think he isn’t good enough to be England manager. As it goes I don’t think he is good enough, but if it was him or Allardyce (as was apparently the choice for the FA), I say: Thank God for McLaren, but that’s for another column. There is a part of me that wants McLaren to succeed, because I think he is an honest man, probably a good coach, and he obviously loves the game.
