Andrew Paddick, director general of the Institute of Insurance Brokers (IIB) has died suddenly. Paddick, who founded the IIB in 1987, was well liked and respected in the industry as a champion of insurance brokers having been responsible for the development of the institute and the introduction of a number of important industry initiatives.
IIB chairman Graham Gomm said: "Andrew had tremendous enthusiasm and devotion to the cause of helping insurance brokers, even those who did not agree with his views had to admire his determination to succeed. His battles with General Accident, the Treasury and regulators will be long remembered." Derek Thornton, chairman of the British Brokers' Association, added: "We at BIBA were greatly saddened to hear of the death of Andrew Paddick.
