Scottish Provident is implementing changes to its sales regime for protection intermediaries as new EU rules on online and telephone product sales come into force next month.
Under the EU’s Distance Marketing Directive which comes into force on October 9th, advisers who sell protection products over the phone or online will first be required to ensure clients have a copy of all the terms and conditions before the contract can be signed. In order to meet these new regulations, Scottish Provident has placed all relevant documents and brochures on its website this week instead of waiting for the start date and has implemented the 30 day cancellation period, extended under the DMD from the previous 14 day limit.
