Warren Buffet has surpassed Bill Gates to become the richest man in the world, according to Forbes Magazine's list of the world's richest men.
The US investor, who heads Bershire Hathaway, is thought to be worth $62bn. Forbes says gains in his company shares have pushed his wealth up by around $10bn in the twelve months to February 11. Steve Forbes, chief executive of Forbes Magazine, says: “Even though he is giving away a piece of his fortune each year, the stock of Berkshire Hathaway, the source of Warren Buffet's wealth, has been rising very rapidly.” Bill Gates is now ranked third, at $58bn, while Carlos Slim, a Mexican telecoms tycoon, is second with an estimated wealth of $60bn.
