Women have surged to start online trading over the last five years, according to research by Alliance Trust.
A survey of 1,000 online investors shows 75% female investors made their first online share purchase within the last five years, compared to 61% of men. Alliance Trust says the research suggests modern women like the freedom to trade at any time and place. More than 35% of today’s online traders made their first online trade three to five years ago while 27% started six to 10 years ago. The provider expects the trend to gather more pace as figures from Ofcom show women aged between 25 and 34 spend over 20% more time online than their male counterparts.
